We had fun building models today with our molecular model kits. The students saw some of the patterns in how the molecule models are built depending on the number of bonds that each kind of atom can form. I am actually teaching a unit that just uses some content models to teach each of the cross cutting concept of NGSS explicitly. When we get to the rest of the content then students will be about to identify which of these concepts we are employing as we study the content.
Kudos was the name of the game today. I took and forwarded a picture of a student with the molecule model she built and sent it to the principal and then he sent it on to the school board. I told her she was famous.
In biology we looked at leaf cross sections to address the cross cutting concept structure and function.
